Time Calculator

Time Calculator

Add, subtract, multiply, or divide multiple times with a running total. Supports MM:SS, HH:MM:SS, and decimal seconds.

How to Use

Add / Subtract mode:
1. Type a time in each row — accepted formats: 112, 1:52, 1:52.50, 1:23:45
2. Click the small + button on a row to flip it to (subtract)
3. The running total updates next to every row as you type
4. Click + Add Time to add more rows (no limit), or the small ✕ button on a row to remove it

Multiply / Divide mode:
1. Enter a single time
2. Toggle between × and ÷
3. Enter a number — integer multipliers give a clean step list, decimals append a final "remainder" step (e.g. 1:15 × 1.5 → 1:15, 1:52.5)
4. Divide shows a reducing total (2:00 ÷ 4 → 2:00, 1:30, 1:00, 0:30)

Add to History & Share:
• Results compute automatically — use Add to History to keep an expression for later
• Click any row in the history table to replay it
• The Share button copies a link that re-opens the calculator with the same inputs

Supported time formats

  • 112 — bare seconds, becomes 1:52
  • 112.5 — bare seconds with decimal, becomes 1:52.5
  • 1:52 — minutes and seconds
  • 1:52.50 — minutes, seconds, and fractional seconds
  • 1:23:45 — hours, minutes, and seconds
  • 1:23:45.5 — full HH:MM:SS with decimal
  • -1:52 — leading minus for a negative time

Values beyond 59 in the seconds slot (e.g. 1:75) are rejected because they're almost always user error — type 2:15 instead. Unlimited hours are allowed so you can add up training weeks and race programs without hitting a ceiling.

Negative totals

If a subtraction takes the running total below zero the calculator shows it with a leading minus (e.g. −2:00). This is intentional — it's useful for working out "how far ahead / behind the target" sessions and for checking negative split plans.

Add / Subtract running totals

The running-total column on the right of every row shows the value of the expression up to and including that row. That makes it easy to see which specific row flips the total past some threshold, which is handy when chaining together race splits, interval sets, or training week totals.

Multiply / Divide step breakdown

Rather than just spitting out a final number, the calculator renders each integer step of a multiplication or division:

  • 1:15 × 41:15, 2:30, 3:45, 5:00
  • 1:15 × 1.51:15, 1:52.5 (whole multiple, then final)
  • 2:00 ÷ 42:00, 1:30, 1:00, 0:30 (ends on the quotient)
  • 2:00 ÷ 4.52:00, 1:33.33, 1:06.67, 0:40, 0:13.33, 0:00 (final zero shows the remainder reaching zero)
